can someone that has one of the aqua c skimmers tell me if the foot print specs are just the bottom of the body or does that include the gate valve that sticks out the side?

That would not include the gate valve. You need to add about another 2 inches onto that.

I use mine out of the sump but you can place it either way.

cool.. I need to set mine up that way. cpr sump is too narrow by about 1-2 inches with the gate valve, do you have any pics of your setup? do you have a pan or somthing under the skimmer to cach any water?

I could snap a few pics. It is fully sealed. I have an auto waste catch on it. It does not leak and I really am not worried about it. Most problems in any system arise from lack of maintenance. I make sure that does not happen. I will post a pic later on after I sleep some more. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As promised!! I the pump is an Iwaki MD30 which is about 2 feet below on the floor. This is the EV150 which was replaced by the new EV180.

Does the collection cup just gravity drain into some kind of container?

Yes into an auto shutoff waste collector.

How does that work? is it just a "float" switch running your skimmer pump, or something pre made for a skimmer?

They are made for the skimmer thus restricting air flow. Skimmers work on suction. That is the ones that have an enclosed collection cup where the only outflow is the drain valve. When you restrict the outflow they will no longer produce a foam thus essentially shutting off till you empty it.
