I've been lighting my 29 gallon tank with 2 - 55 watt PC for the past 9 months, but I'm now changing to 1 - 55 watt acintic PC and a 175 watt MH. I just wanted to ask what temperature light I should use. I plan on getting some mushroom, polyps, and one or two LPS corals. Should I get 6,500K, 10,000K, or 12,000K??? It doesn't matter what the light looks like, just want to know which the corals will profit most from.

Thanks!!

You could keep your current lighting just doubled if you wanted to keep those types of corals. I use 4 x 55 in a 29 gallon and keep most anything in there.

In a tank that size I would go with the 10K. Thne color spectrum will be a bit more pleasing to you. I prefer the 6500K but thats on bigger tanks and for SPS growth so thats another story. For all around coral health and looks I ran 10K for a few years.

I would second the 10,000K bulb. The glitter lines created by the halides are very pleasing (at least to me).

Thanks,

I wish I could just double the PC's, but i had already bought a double 175 MH ballast to eventually use on my 75 gallon. Hopefully I'll have some good pics to post with that MH.
