The other day I did some frag trading with another reefer and got a nice piece of Green Tree. Yesterday morning I awoke to find that it was GONE /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif.
I cant be sure, but I think my pair of Peppermint Shrimp are the culprits. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad3.gif
Has anyone else had this problem with their peps. I would like to keep them since they did such a great job of eliminating my Aptasia problem.
Your thoughts...

Green Tree as in a green nepthea? If the frag was small it could have melted right away. Sometimes if soft corals are stressed or do not like the new conditions they are in they can literally dissolve very quickly.
The other question would be how was the thing mounted or did you mount it yourself the other day. If the leather hadn't attached firmly to the rock it could have been blown free and lodge somewhere else in the tank. Their are a number of techniques for holding leather frags in place till the attach firmly.
As well Omegatron's assessment of it dissolving is another option. When I frags my leather tree occasionally I get a frag or two that does this. Since I often frag one tree into 10 or 15 frags I just remove anything that starts to dissolve and write it off as a loss.

The frag was mounted when I got it. It appears to have been glued to the rock. I am assuming that it came loose and is lost somewhere in my reefwork. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
It's been awhile since I had any softies but I agree it may either have wasted away or got pulled from the mounting as sometimes soft corals are hard to get mounted this way. I would get my flashlight out and look for the frag as much as you can. I have had sps frags fall behind the rock structure only to find them at a later date doing just fine. Is it possible to remove some rock to look for the frag?? Green nepthia is a very nice coral and I'd try to find as quick as possible.

I have looked everywhere for it to no avail. I have a feeling it ended up underneath or behind one of my base rocks that would be nearly impossible to remove. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I will keep my eyes open, but I am losing hope as time passes.
Thanks for the replies.
Sorry bout that. I hate it when stuff like this happens. It's no ones fault but that doesn't help. Maybe you'll find it and it will have been growing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
