I am hoping someone can help me out here. I have an anemone in my 90 gallon tank and as of late, he is acting weird. This is a FOWLR tank, setup is 2 250 watt MH's lighting, sump, protein skimmer and refugium, 60 lbs live rock and 4" sandbed. other inhabitats are 2 A. Akindynos clowns, purple tang ( very small ) and Hippo Tang ( also small ). One of the tangs will be moved to my 255 later. I noticed the hippo had a couple of white spots on this back a few weeks ago and I treated him with garlic soaked foods. And he looks fine now, But I noticed after doing this that my anemone has decided come off his rock to the sandbed and turns over on to his mouth every night now. I flip him over in the morning and watch his mouth close, and his tentacles around his mouth are deflated, but the outer edges appear normal. The water movement isn't strong enough were he is to make him turn over. I don't know what type of anemone he is. He was bought as a condy, but doesn't look like one. He is yellow in color now ( was white when I got him) and with short bubble tips. Could this be from the garlic??? I have had him for about 6 weeks now. I will try to get a picture later. I posted one before this happened in the clown thread.

Tracey,

Garlic shouldn't be a problem with the anemone. I have used garlic (kyolic) very lightly in my foods before with no problems to my anemone. Have you tried offering it some type of food? Is its tentacles sticky to the touch? It almost sounds like something is flipping it over at night after lights out and it is irritating to the anemone.

Thanks for the reply, Sandy. But nothing is turning the anemone over but itself. I watched it do so yesterday evening. I guess it isn't too happy in this tank and for the life of me I can't figure out while. I was feeding the anemone shrimp and oysters finely chopped. It is refusing foods since coming off his rock. I will try some different some silversides today and see if it prefers them and changes his behavior.
