Quick question could a large bristle worm kill a fish. I had a Mandarin turn up missing over the last few days and was wondering what happened to him. The reason I ask about the bristle worm is I noticed a rather large one in my tank last night. By large I would wager the worm is at least 6 inches. I was only able to see a rather large portion of it retreating into the rocks.

Check your overflow! I had a mandarin turn up missing, and found it about 6 weeks later alive and well in my overflow. =OR= It could be that the mandarin has starved to death, or just hiding out from an agressive fish. - Jared.

I have never seen one of my bristle worms bother any living thing. And I have a few of them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gifSome honkers to. However, they make fast work out of any dead fish. That is if they can beat the starfish and shrimp there. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My experience has been the same a Doug's. Mine only go after dead things.

my ;bristle worms never bothered anything either. as far as fish most wont eat a mandarin because they give off a toxin on there skin makes em taste bad. do you have anenomes, certain types of mushrooms, or what other kinds of inverts? mandarins are common victims of these critters there slow moving bottom dwellers become easy lunches for them
