View Full Version : Internal reflectors better than external reflectors?

This post is regarding VHO bulbs with the built in reflectors vs canopy external reflectors: Are the externals obsolete to the internals? I read that if you use the bulbs with the internal reflectors you do not need an external one, maybe just paint the inside of the hood white. Is this true? Or would you still need the external reflector.

I know more is better, but when extra cash is involved, is it really necessary?

Thanks!

In my experience with VHO I would not rely entirely on the internal reflectors of the bulbs themselves. It is always better to have some sort of external reflector, be it a hood painted white OR an actual reflector; the actual reflector providing the optimal results. - just my opinion, Jared.

If it isn't the lighting guru asking about lighting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Andy the internal reflectors are a joke IMO. I personally would go with the normal VHO and go with a decent external reflector.

I'm not sure if that was directed toward me, and if it was extreme sarcasm, because I'm far from any guru /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Anyway, it doesn't hurt having the internal reflectors in the bulbs, right? If I have a good external reflector, purchasing bulbs with or without would matter.

Nope it shouldn't

I guess I have you mixed up with Andy Howard from Icecap. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/moron.gif
