We'll my tank is in trouble. About 3 days ago I had an outbreak of glass anemones. A huge outbreak. I don't know where they came from but about 150 of them poped up overnight it seems. I was thinking of pepermint shrimps, about 10, to get rid of them. I can't try a copperband because of my large open brain coral... And I already tried some burgrossa sea slugs witch was a waste of money... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif. So I was thinking os lots of pepermint shrimps. Is 10 a good number or should I get more? My tank is a 125 gal. Any tips to get rid of them will be helpful. Thank you.

If you can't do a Copperband Butterly you can try the peppermint shrimp but they are less effective in my opinion. You can try using Kalkwasser to inject those easy to get to.

I would try the pepermints. I dont know that 10 is needed I would try 4-5 and you can always get more if you feel they are needed. Pepermints are hit and miss on eat aptasia's.

I had hundreds of the pests in my 150 and the 3 large Peppermint shrimps I bought ignored them but they will occasionally nip at my pulsing xenia tips and once I caught one digging into my meat coral after I fed it. I bought a Copperband and he cleaned out every one of them within a month. He has never bothered any of my corals at all. The shrimps do breed all the time adding to the food supply though. Just my 2 cents...

I have to go with the Copperband, I had on for almost a year, it never bothered any corals, and it cleaned the anenomes out in no time. Be sure that it is eating well, they can be difficult to feed following the removal of their natural foods. I never found shrimp too effective, I had several but never saw a reduction in the anenomes.

I too have a Copperband which has never bothered any of my 'Lps' or 'Sps' corals. He DID rid my tank of Aiptasia in less than three days however. And I have a 500g tank!
