I purchased a ETS 600 skimmer online used and it appears to have a very small leak where the acrylic tubing meets the flange..whether this happened during shipping I do not know but I am going to or I want to try and fix this myself as I am thinking it may not be that bad...I was thinking of using some of that aquarium silicone around the edge but before I go ahead and screw something up that may hinder a better repair later if needed I want to get some opinions..I have attached a photo which you should be able to see...even though the water covers an inch or two I believe it is only coming from a very small area, and I am positive it is not coming from the gasket and up through the screw holes...thanks in advance for any advise..

It is very hard to tell which leak it may be. Sometimes if the gasket is worn near a screw hole you might get water leak through any loose screw. On the other hand it may be a slight crack. Best to take a closer inspection with a magnifying glass over the area and see. If it is a slight crack you have a few options. You may be able to use acylic solvent to meld the pieces back together if it is a seam leak. If it is another type a would use a product at home depot called GOOP. It dries rock hard and clear. This would be alot less pliable unlike silicone which is very pliable.

thanks for the replies....I am postive the leak is not coming up through the screw holes or from the gasket..I have inspected the gasket and in excellent shape...when I dry the water away I can see exactly where it is coming from..right up through the seam where the acrylic tube meets the flange..it is just a 1 inch area that the water seeps through...there is an acrylic tank manufacture in town here that I may try to get ahold of to see what he can do for me..I would do it my self but I hate to waste a tube or can of weld on, as I would probably never use it again and just go bad..
Omegatron...I know the stuff you are talking about...I have been doing plumbing for over 15 years and have used that stuff many times in a pinch...no more leaks..
thanks

That stuff is great. Weldon is about 6 bucks a tube. If the seam is hard to get at the easiest would be the GOOP. It is about 3.89 a tube at Home Depot.
I vote for Goop also. I use it on all kinds of stuff around the house not just my fish stuff.
