Refugiums

I have a working sump underneath my 75 gal tank. It currently has bio-balls for filtration, which I will remove soon. I am seriously considering converting the sump into a refugium to cultivate plankton and alge to feed my corals.
Anyone with any ideas about the simplest way to do this?
