Hello Friends,
I just returned from MACNA and I have something to talk about. I stopped over to the Harbor Aquatics Booth like I do every year to talk to owner and friend Joy Meadows. I saw something truly unique there besides the lovely livestock. She had brought a friend with her who had some truly amazing toys. This friend as I met him was Tullio Dell Aquila. He is President of Aquatic Research and Development. They were premering a new line of lights at this year's MACNA. These were not for sale yet were the hit of the conference judged by how much interest they recieved.
Let's begin with a picture.

One can see for only a 150watt HQI model they packed a punch. They are built in sturdy case which is open design. The running temperature of the unit is about 110 degrees which is rather cool for lighting. The open design helps in cooling things down. Right now 150watt is the only one produced with 250watt on its way. The Halide is mounted in a swivel mount. These units are top notch.

What is truly remarkable about this gentleman is that he is a hobbyist at heart. He is interested in building a quality product at a price that the hobbyist can afford. He is dead set that he will only sell to vendors that will distribute his products at his MSRP. So you will not see overcharging for this system. They will surely put there competitor's in their place quicky selling for a nice major margin under what most systems in this range sell for.

For those of you unsure who Aquatic Research and Development is here are some other products you will know. They are the manufacturer's of the MoonShine Moon Light. As many will know this is the unit that is far superior to it's PFO counterpart.

There are many more products under way. Check out these acrylic tanks with integrated lighting.

How about checking out the wave of the future. These units are a bit pricey for any serious consideration right now but are going to be the wave of the future. As I heard from Dana Riddle last year at MACNA he stated the same thing. This company is truly keeping on the cutting edge and it is so refreshing to find someone truly interested in the hobby and bringing quality and reasonable pricing to us.
