hi i would like to satup inline filter sys for my 55 gal.(Pentair aquatics) i am looking at raindow lifegard single inline filter modules. do i need an overflow box and what size external pump?

Reef Tanks do not use filter systems as the live rock is the filter.

Yes you will need an overflow to flow water from the tank to a sump or filter etc if this is a not a REEF READY design.
