Happy New Year to all! I set up my oceanic 90g bowfront last week and the water appears to have thousands of tiny air bubbles in it and I am not sure why?? I am new to saltwater aquariums and I have read several books but I can't find anything on why or where the bubbles could be coming from! Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Does you tank have a sump or is it just a closed system with powerheads and such?

My tank has a sump with a protein skimmer. There is about 2 to 3 inches of water above the pump. I can see all the bubbles shooting out of the return pipe that feeds into the tank. I purchased the tank from a saltwater dealer that had the tank set up in the store prior to my purchase. I did not notice the bubbles when it was set up in the store. Since it was already set up and everything the dealer did not have any of the instuctions to any of the equipment for me to read over. Here is just a few of the items that came with the tank: Kent Nautilus protein skimmer, Sup Mag Drive 7 Watt pump, Sup Mag Drive 9.5 pump. I built my own durso standpipe to cut down on the noise of the water flowing over into the overflow chamber. It helped a great deal!!!
Thanks again! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You can try posting running the return pipe with fine mesh net over it to break up the air bubbles. I would also look at your skimmer and see what the outflow there looks like.

Also take note the skimmer should not be near the return pump. It should be in the inlet side. Can you take pictures or describe your sump setup a little better as far as size baffles etc.

One thing you way want to check is the water return lines from sump to see that the clamps on the hoses are tight. I have had problems before with bubbles from a clamp not being tight enoght and sucking in air.

My crp does that when the riser tube isnt seated all the way down. Look to see if everything is fully seated so the bubbles cant escape to the outside water
