U V Steriilizer Questions

Would a UV Sterilizer help prevent or cure Ich? My Blue Hippo Tang and Yellow Tang seem to get Ich on a regular basis. Any help would be helpfull. Right now I'm treating them in a Hospital tank with Formalin as per LFS. Thanks

A UV will cure ick but will help it from spreading. If your continuing to have problems with them getting ick there is a reason for it. They are being stressed for one reason or another that is causeing it. Give some info on you setup and maybe we can figure what it causeing the problem in the first place.

A UV sterilizer is bad IMO as yes it may kill some pathogens but it will also kill beneficial organisms as well.

I have a 46 Gal. Bow front with 55 lbs. of live rock, 70 lbs live sand, CSL PC lighting with moon lights, AMiracle wet/dry, Protien skimmer,Temp 79, Amonia 0, Nitrate 0, Nitrite 0, PH 8.3, 1 small Yellow Tang, 1 very small Hippo Tang, 1 Nemo Clown Fish, 2 Snails, 1 Cleaner Shrimp.

I would make sure your WET/DRY is run EMPTY. Your liverock provides all the filtration you need.

Are you running any type of powerheads in the tank?
Every sounds ok but I am thinking just a guess maybe there is some stray voltage in the tank from a powerhead or heater or something. Like I said just a guess.

Yes I'm running 2 MJ 1200's.

MJ are usally pretty good about not leaking voltage.
Is any one not getting along in the tank. It there any chasing now and then. The tank is a bit small or will be for the blue tang for sure and the yellow will be pushing it.

That small a tank with two tangs is kind of risky. How long have you had the tank set up for??

Tangs need at least a 4 foot long tank to feel somewhat comfortable.
