All right I'm planning out a 120 gal 24"x24"x48" tank. I'm thinking I want to go with 2x400watt 10k bulbs and some actinics which I'm not sure. Or I could go 2x250watt....
If you have a 120 gal with these one of these light set up what do you like/dislike about them. I would like to be able to have sps toward the bottom of the tank as well as the top.

I run a 120 with those exact dimensions
Go with 2 400watters and 2 110 VHO actinics.

I guessing that you run your MH for about 8 hour, But how long do you run your Actinics. I'm running my VHO for like 13 and I never get to see anything since I'm so busy. Don't worry I still do maintance and feedings. I was thinking aboute adding some othere lights for fewing. But I really think I should just go with 2x400watts and actinics like I'm planning on.

I am a big fan of the HQI DE lights now that I have gotten one. I wont go back to mogul again. I would run 2x250 HQI DE lights with AB 10K bulbs and actinics would be optional.
The next option would be the 400's for more light depending on how deep my sand bed was. If I went with 4+" deep sand bed then 250" little or no sand then probably 400's.

Just woundering why you would say that. Just because of the distance or is there more to it.
Thanks

They have less heat over the tank or so I think anyways and I think. The bulbs are suppose to last longer. I like pendants any ways and these are much smaller than Mogul socket pendents. I just overall like them much better. Most people who have used like them much better than moguls.
The reflectors work much better for the HQI than mogul since the reflectors are all around instead of just on the sides.
