where should i place my powerheads in the tank ,they will be hooked up to a wave maker?

All of this is really to your liking. Some people hide their closed loops and others place them right up front. The idea behind a closed loop or powerheads is to add additional circulation to your tank. To add water flow where there isn't any, such as behind rockwork, and in corners that your return can't reach. Some use spray bars, which I think are really great. I have used exterioral power heads mounted inside the canopy with check valves to keep them primed during power outages with a spray bar going down behind the back wall. I used a screen over the intake to prevent snails and debris from being sucked up into the powerhead. You will need to find where you need the extra flow in your tak, and decide what is best for you. If you do a search, a few years ago Omegatron posted his spinner in Tanks, equipment forum. Great device for making upper tank water movement for corals.
