When I got my first AquaC EV180 it took about 2 weeks before it really started working well. Now the remora is a hangon but I would guess it will only tank up to a week at most before the bubbles to die out and probably a few more days before it starts working right. Skimmers take a little while to build up like a slim coating on it to work properly.

I know they do sell a bubble trap and surface skimmer that could help for the remora's

take the spung and push on it a few time to get the air out.
try to ring it out if you can. All that spung is for is to prevent your air bubbles from getting into the tank. It will take awhile befor you don't get any bubbles.

New skimmers start foaming after there broke in and that depends on what kind of skimmer and bio load that you had. My new skimmer that I have took less than a day to get dark rich foam. I was using a back pack and up graded to a Euro. I love it, it was money well spent

I think the sponge he is talking about is on his Euro-reef skimmer. Euro reef skimmers are in sump only.

thanks, this off the subject but i heard if u raise your salinity it will help out on bad algae problems is that true?

News to me.
What is your salinity at? I would not go over 1.026

yeah i checked it out in a book it said bad algea blooms waz aresult of low salinity, this is what gets me.i know it says keep it around 1.024 but mine for the longest time was at 1.029,then i got my local to test all the peremeters,so i lowered it and after 2 weeks thats when all **** broke loose on hair and diatoms, its got me?

How fast did you lower your salinty?
If you lowered it instantly you could have had some minor die off in stuff in the tank from the shock which would explain the sudden algea bloom going through a smaller cycle.

i think your right i did lower it from 1.029 to 1.025 in 1 water change.at the time i didnt think it would be that much of a shock, guess i waz wrong. thanks

Yeah when ever you change your salinity you should do it slowly over a period of time and 4 point swing should have been done over a couple of weeks. That could be your problem then.
I would run a poly filter or 2 for and some carbon to help clean up the water and see how it goes over the next few weeks.
