For powerheads Maxi Jets are probably the best and most reliable with best suction cups.
Heater I always use EBO Jager 3xgallons for detemining watts and 2 smaller heaters are better than one large one.
Protien skimmer either a Aqua-C EV120 or EuroReef 6-2+ for my opion and experience.
Sumps I prefer to either have a custom acyrlic built with baffles or just use rubber miad contianers or equivelent.

Sump are way overpriced and aren't in my opionion any better than getting a rubber maid. I even seen people use plastic shelfs. They place there filter on the top shelf and carbon in the one bellow it. It really nice and easy to use and clean. All you have to do if drill some holes in the shelfs and place it in a container and add a pump.
Just my thoughts

I would start off with 2 of the 1200's and go from there.
What do you plan on keeping for corals and also how much flow will you having coming from you sump?

A sump is a contianer of some tpye that is under your tank in the stand or beside it. YOu have a overflow either built into your tank or hang one on that siphons water out of your display tank into the sump and a pump in the sump to return water back to the display tank.
The purpose for the sump is hold things like heaters, protien skimmers and anything else that you dont want to have in your display tank to look at and clutter up looks of it. It also gives more oxygen to the tank with the water turbulance from draining.
Here is a link to a thread on a basic sump but well desighned.
