I have a Tomato Clown that has what I believe is some kind of Fungus, but I have him in a hospital tank and I am hitting him with heavy doses of Furan-2 and it doesn't seem to be working. I am wondering if it could be something besides a Fungus. Right now it has almost completely eaten away his mouth and there is another spot forming on his head. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, unless I just missed it, it might be a good idea to have a section in this forum dedicated to fish diseases.

Sorry to hear your fish problems. I am reallynot much help of this subject other than Ick. Have you been to your LFS to seek any possible meds other than what your using?

Yeah, I have been to the LFS, which specializes in salt water fish and they told me originally that Furan-2 is supposed to be extremely effective with any type of fungus. I haven't gone back to them yet to see if they can think of anything else. That is my next step.

Hey,
I'm not to much on the disease thing either, but I have tried the freshwater dip on numerous occasions and it has seemed to work. In this case, I'm not sure. Good luck, please let us now what works.

Unfortunately, nothing worked. The fish died a couple of nights ago.

Sorry for the loss, but I just joined and thought I would provide a technique I used years ago.
I had a Flame Angel that contracted a flesh eating fungus. I tried all the LFS recommended medications and nothing worked. By this time it looked terrible and had a deep groove on the back where the fungus was. I did not want to loose such a beatiful specimin so I tried something you might call radical or unortodox. I applied methiolate to the infected area. After about two treatments, it began looking better and the fish started eating again then lived for another couple years. All I can say is it worked for me as a last resort.
