Okay, I have started to get my algae problem under control.
Right now I just have three 3-stripped damsels with crushed coral. I have no live sand or rock. If I add the live sand and rock with some snails and a hermit or two will that pretty much eliminate my algae problem?

it will help big time with your algae problem. Can't say that it will take care of it 100%, you will have to remove that CC bed before putting the sandbed in, and being that you only have three damsels, ask the LFS to take them Back(less stress on fish this way). you can get new ones or something else aggressive after your tank is set up with sand and live rock. Your looking at some thing that could be a problem. When upgrading to stonger lighting there is a algea bloom that comes with it. Best is to try and keep ahead of it for now by cleaning out the algea now then and over time as the tank matures it should go away on its own.

the algee that i have noticed growing is still growing but very slowly.. it hasnt spread very far at all.. but now i am seeing a florescent green algee.. that seems to be moving a little quicker.. have added some turbo snails just yesterday. anyone know what this bright green algee could be..

Just another type of algea. If it is slimy looking with some bubbles in it then it is probably cyano which can syhoned out on water changes.
