No, I didn't dye the water due to St. Patrick's Day. I have a major issue with my 75 gallon tank. The water has turned almost completely green. I have a wet/dry filter, recently added 4 fish. The tank had been running for about 3 weeks before I added 2 damsels and 1 clown. I waited about 3 weeks before adding the other 4 fish. I have ordered a U/V Sterilizer to fix the problem. Does anyone know how long it will take it to clear up the water? How bad is the green water for my fish?

Need more info, have ya done any testing for ammonia? Tap water or RO/DI, temperature? Sounds like alot of fish in a short time after being set up. Got carbon running?

I have tested for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate - all zero.
I initially used tap water to set it up. The temp. is 76.
I just added carbon this weekend.
I don't see how adding the fish would cause the algae bloom.

Is the tank by open windows/alot of natural sunlight?

No. It is in the corner of a fairly dark room. Any sunlight is not direct and very minimal. Could this be enough light to cause this?
Will my U/V sterilizer clear out the water in a couple of days?

Hoffy, funny thing, I am surprized Chuck hasn't responded as he had one of his tanks get green water. You should be able to do a search on it here on this board and find out exactly what he did to get rid of it. It is an plankton explosion.. Good luck

Sounds like some kind of algea bloom. If it is the UV should clear it up some if not completely in time. My guess anyways.

The U/V cleared up the green water completely in two days. Anyone who says they are only optional...well I would say they are a must! Thanks for everyone's help.
