View Full Version : Sad Clownfish

Today my boss gave me a "tank" which might be 3 quarts of salt water, a flourescent bulb over the open "tank" and the following occupants: a very sad clownfish, a cool shrimp with red & white stripes (What kind is he?) and a live rock. The "filter" is a tiny little Nano Filter. No skimmer, no anything else.

Now here are the problems:

I know the "tank" is WAY WAY TOO SMALL. I did not buy this thing, I am inheriting it. Is there a way to keep the clown alive and happy in there? I am thinking not, all he does is struggle to swim, and gill too much. He lies on the bottom a lot. I feel really bad about this, so I am thinking of returning him to the pet store where he came from with more than a few choice words for the salespeople who took what I see as a betta splendens set up (and a poor one at that) and decided to make it marine. If I do that, can I keep the shrimp & rock going in there? Or should I return the lot of them? I would like to keep the shrimp, he seems fine, but then what do I need to do if I can?

I hope that this makes sense, and I would truly appreciate any help. Thank you in advance!!

The clown should go back for sure.
IF the shrimp seems ok with it and you keep up with it then heck give it a try I eat my share of shrimps as it is anyways.

The clown went to a 100 gallon with 2 or more of his kind and NOT back to that *&^%$# pet store. The shrimp & his live rock are now my desk buddies. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif All be better now!!
Any helpful hints for keeping a durban beaknosed shrimp happy in this size tank??
