What type of coral are you trying to attatch? If its a stoney coral then you can use super glue or a type of epoxy called Loc-Tite which I bought from wal-mart. If its a soft coral then try super glue, otherwise let it grow onto a smaller rock then use epoxy to attatch it to the main rock work.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to try the superglue. Can you use superglue underwater or should do I have to remove the coral and live rock from the tank. I am sorry if this seems like a simple question but I am new to reef tanks. They are so exciting I cannot keep myself away from the store. My bank account is sure to keep me away soon.

You usally need to remove the coral and rock it will be attached to super glue them together. I use the aquarium putty that is sold at most LFS for monting stuff that needs to be help in place just takes a half hour to hard good.
I do use super glue though for sps frags.

I am attaching a leather coral this time, right now it has attached itself to some small rock-like sticks, can i put the super glue right on the base of the leather? It seems like I would hurt it? Thanks so much for your help

Super glue may not work on the leather since it is soft but you can try it. It should not bother the leather.

After trying(and failing)many ways of attatching my toadstool leather, I finally used superglue successfully. I had to put a lot of glue on a small rock, press the leather onto the rock then put it in the sand for a few days. After that I used epoxy to attatch the smaller rock to a bigger rock. It was a pain in the butt.
You could use superglue to attatch the leather, but you'll probably have to use a lot of glue and hold it for a few minutes to make sure it attatches. And don't forget to stay patient.

Try to stick as much of your corals right into holes in your live rock. this should be fine for leathers.
