I recently set up a 45 gallon tank with 40 lbs of live rock & live sand. This is my first saltwater tank. I have no fish in the tank yet but I noticed these little white crab like creatures on my glass. They are very small. I'm wondering if they are dangerous???I think they came from the rock. I took a sample to the pet store in a jar and the guy said not to worry. He thinks they are copepods and said that the fish would eat them. I did some research and I found out that copepods are not even close to what he was talking about but if they were I'd be in trouble. Can someone please help me with this matter. I would hate to think that my life long dream of owning a marine tank has already started off on the wrong foot.

They are good. They are in line with copods and anthopods. Almost everyone has them in their tank but dont see them once they get fish since the fish eat them up what they can find anyways.

I had "little shite buggers in my tank as well". and acutally it wa easy for me to diagnose my problem becasue i found a small sample of them at the LFS tank. if your white biggers are small white HARD sprirally shaped things, the guy at the LFS told me that it is just Calcium buildups. and in turn where these are, no nuisence algae will grow.
