I have a yellow-tipped lemnalia that is in danger of crowding out all available light from its perch at the top of my tank. It forms a mat to grow, so the branches never completely separate as it spreads across the rock. What is the best way to frag this without stressing the mother colony too much?

Just start cutting off piece is usally the best with leathers of most all types. A new sharp razor blade is your best bet. NO mater how you do it it is going to stress the mother colony some so but should get over it in a day or 2 and start growing again.

Thanks... that's exactly what I did. The mother is looking good after 4 days and I hope to get 15 or 20 good frags out of this one!

Sounds like you will have some trade corals or sell some to your LFS.

I hope so... I been maintaining my reef addiction with xenia and star polyp frags. These frags will allow me a guilt-free upgrade!
