Sponges

I understand the Sponges make good filters of water. I also believe they are very difficult to maintain in a reef tank due to it being vulnerable to snails and some fishes.

Has anyone any had positive experiences with Sponges ?

Which species are most hardy ?

I have tried sponges 2 times with no luck my self over a couple of mounths. If they exposed to air for just a few seconds any time it will most likly die and you never know if the collector or shipper ever exposed it to air. They are filter feeders as you mentioned so this also makes them fairly hard to care for in the long run.
