I am planning on making a DIY canopy and I am researching the wiring. What is the best way to wire 2 fans into the canopy? Preferably I would like to wire them with the lights so that they come on and off with the lights. I'm trying to be conservative with my costs since I think I am going to go with a 75g AGA. Thanks in advance for the help!

I dont know if it would be a good idea to wire the fans to the lights but you can wire the fans together and have the fans and lights all on one power strip and the power strip pluged into a timer so everything comes on at the same time.

Thanks for the input. That is what I had been planning but didn't know if I was missing anything.

Just an FYI I found a fairly simple way to control fan speed without using a sensor. I'm sure it has been done many times before but here is what I did. I acquired a fan from an old computer. 12VDC and got a plug transformer from Radio Shack. This particular model has a voltage selection on it. I can therefore use a range of voltaged maxign out at 12V. This is more of a seasonal option but It works. Just an idea for anyone interested in this option.
