Two Tangs

I have 55 gallon tank. I already have a yellow tang, but really want to get a Regal Blue tang. I have heard that they may not get along. Any thoughts?

I have heard that they will do fine if they are different body shapes and have plenty of room. I don't know if 55 is enough.

Although the tangs have different body shapes this does not neccesarily mean that they are compatible. Yellow Tangs are more aggressive than most and thus they will usually attack another tang upon introduction( I know from personal expeirience!) The only way you could introduce a regal blue without much aggresion would be to remove the yellow tang and rearrange your rockwork. Then you could introduce both at the same time, but even then there is a chance that they will fight.

I didn't have any trouble with mine but I had the regal in the tank first and got a yellow that at the time was just a bit smaller than the regal, yellows grow faster but he never let it go to his head /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got the yellow first, and he is quite large, introduced the regal ( he's tiny ) and they seem to be geting long Ok so far. I guess I'll just wait and see what happens when the Regal gets bigger......wish me luck!

They should be fine, they may squabble a little bit but they will get their pecking order figured out quickly... good luck
