what is the wattage for a 50gallon tank??

im kinda a newbee and i am planning on setting up a 50gallon tank and i want to set up metal hillids because i read that these are the best lights to grow about everything but i want to have a conopy i dont want a hang from the roof type of setup= i do know that these lights get really hot so my plann was to stick about either 2 or 4 fand on each side of the cannopy, so i was wondering if this would work?? and i also have another question about how much wattage do you think i need to grow about all kinds of corals=soft,hard,clams-etc in a 50g tank???please help!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bow.gif

a couple of fans will help alot but also having some openeings in the top of the canopy will help heat exscape also.
As towards wattage I always suggest 250's since there is little price diffecence between 175 and 250's so get the stronger lights.
