I have a Pistol Shrimp that has dug itself a rather nice little cave that I get observe since it is against the glass. I am thinking of getting a Yellow Watchman to be it’s symbiotic partner. However, while waiting for my Yellow Watchman, on order from LFS, my firefish Gobie has decided to share the cave with my Pistol Shrimp !
Would adding a Yellow watchman to this tank create competition in the cave ?

I think the fire fish will move when the watchman shows up but could be wrong.

You are witnessing one of the greatest wonders of owning these types of critters! I absolutely love watching the symbiotic relationship between critters like this /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Everything should be fine when you add the yellow watchman to the tank. If they don't, one thing that I tried and worked in the past with a similar situation, was to move them out of the cave and fill it up again with substrate. Essentially forcing the goby to re-dig his cave. This sort of "reset" the relationships between all critters involved and ended up working the way I wanted it to. That may be an option to try if things don't work out the way you want them to when you add the watchman.
Just my $.02 worth...
