help with feeding plz

Hey everyone. a few days ago, i purchased two new tankmates for my aquarium a pistol tiger shrimp and a chocolate chip starfish.
1) immediately after placing the shrimp in, he scurryed over to a rock and began digging a cave in which he recides to this day. i was sondering how he is staying alive under there and how he is getting food, my other blood shrimp always paticipates in feeding but the pistol doesn't seem to want to.
2) same with my star, how do i feed him. can someone plz reply with a detailed instruction, because i am really lost with it. i had a red star a few months ago and i didn't feed it at all and it discinigrated.

The chocolate chip star is a scavanger but can be feed now and then. Just place it on top of a piece of shrimp or some thing meaty and it should eat it.
You can target feed the shimp if you feel it is not getting any food.
