Description: Characters: Colonies are thin, weakly attached plates with interconnecting, slightly sinuous narrow valleys. Corallite centres are usually in single rows. Columellae are rudimentary or absent.

Colour: Greys and browns are the most common with valleys and walls of contrasting colours.

Similar species: Mycetophyllia danaana, which has longer, wider and more widely spaced valleys. See also M. aliciae.

Habitat: Shallow reef environments.

Abundance: Usually uncommon.
