Description: Characters: Colonies are massive and usually small. Corallites are plocoid to tubular. Budding is primarily extratentacular. Costae are equal and well developed. Paliform lobes are usually poorly developed. Columellae are small and compact. Tentacles are extended only at night.

Colour: Usually brown, cream or green with pale oral discs.

Similar species: Barabattoia laddi, which has longer corallites and alternating costae.

Habitat: Shallow reef environments, especially reef backs protected from strong wave action.

Abundance: Uncommon.
