Description:
The Coral Banded Shrimp is a longtime staple of the aquarium industry. These shrimp are white in color with red bands along their body and claws. They have a rough texture to their exoskeleton and long white antennae. The Coral Banded is a great addition to tanks of 50 gallons or more. They enjoy being in full view and will spend the day looking for food -- specifically their desire to eat bristle worms. They accept all foods and will not harm other shrimp unless threatened. Coral Banded Shrimp have a vigorous appetite and should be fed daily. They desire lots of rockwork to cruise around and perch on and more than one cannot be kept in the same aquarium, unless it is a mated pair. They are the hardiest of all shrimp.

Pros:
good clean up crew, will usually eat any large portions of food your fish leave behind.
Cons:
larger fish eat them in one bite if they are too small. highly suggest buying them after they've matured in size some so they can fight off other fish.

I love having these shrimp in my tank. Not only are they handy to have around for cleaning, they are also pretty. I recommend them as long as you do not have over sized fish. I would say about 50% of the Banded Coral Shrimp i put in my tank get eatten within the first 6 hours of being in my tank just because the ones sold at the store are so small. If possible find adult shrimp for tanks with larger fish.
