|
Characters: Colonies are usually compact clumps composed of uniform, thick, primarily upright branches with flattened ends. Verrucae are uniform, rounded and smooth.
Colour: Cream, brown-green or pink.
Similar species: Pocillopora verrucosa, which has thinner branches in comparable environments and more protuberant corallites. See also P. capitata, which has tall cylindrical branches and elongate verrucae. Pocillopora eydouxi has similar skeletal characters but colonies from similar environments have larger branches.
Habitat: Shallow reef environments.
Abundance: Locally common in some regions of the central Indo-Pacific and the far eastern Pacific.
