Description: Characters: Colonies are compact clusters of columns, which have a smooth surface. Individual columns tend to be isolated subcolonies. Tops of columns tend to be squared off. Small colonies usually consist of nodular subcolonies.

Colour: Pale brown.

Similar species: Well developed colonies have a distinctive growth-form. Small colonies are similar to those of Porites columnaris. Corallites are similar to those of P. myrmidonensis and P. pukoensis.

Habitat: Shallow water. Tolerant of high salinities.

Abundance: Common and may form patch reefs.
