Description: Characters: Colonies are massive or encrusting. Corallites are very small and immersed. The coenosteum has tuberculae which seldom contain corallites.

Colour: Dark green or brown.

Similar species: Montipora floweri, which has evenly distributed corallites. See also M. hoffmeisteri.

Habitat: Occurs in crevices and beneath overhangs.

Abundance: Common but inconspicuous.
