Characters: Colonies are massive, becoming hemispherical. Valleys are short, usually with less than three centres. Septa are in two orders, with tall teeth. Columellae are well formed.
Colour: Mottled or uniform brown, grey, green or cream.
Similar species: Acanthastrea hillae also has a tendency to form valleys with multiple centres. See also A. ishigakiensis.
