Description:
|
Characters: Polyps are elongate and up to 250 millimetres long with almost parallel sides. They are thick and heavy and usually have a strong central arch. Most primary septa extend from the mouth to the perimeter. Costae are fine and straight. There are no attachment scars except on immature specimens.
Colour: Usually brown.
Similar species: Fungia moluccensis. See also Cycloseris somervillei.
Habitat: Reef slopes and lagoons.
Abundance: Common.
