Description: Characters: Colonies are submassive. Corallites are situated at the bottom of depressions or are in short non-meandering valleys. Walls have acute tops. Primary septo-costae are petaloid but are not exsert.

Colour: Uniform grey, brown or sometimes bright colours.

Similar species: Psammocora profundacella, which has less valley formation, more distinct corallite centres and less acute walls. Superficially resembles the agariciids Pavona venosa and Gardineroseris planulata.

Habitat: Shallow reef environments.

Abundance: Uncommon.
